Meet model, public speaker, dancer and college graduate, Mikayla Holmgren, the first woman with Downs Syndrome to compete in a Miss USA pageant, who has already made history and hoping to do it again.
Walking away with the title of 'Spirit of Miss USA,' Holmgren is now setting her sights on breaking barriers whilst highlighting the need for inclusion within the fashion industry.
With hopes of becoming the first model with Down Syndrome to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated as a swimsuit model, Holmgren's ultimate goal is to “ dream big without limits.”
“Hi, Sports Illustrated (SI). I am Mikayla Holmgren. I am from Minnesota. SI Swim has been such a champion of the diversity of beauty. Now is the time to include someone like me.
I am a dancer, a model, a public speaker, and a college graduate. I am the first woman with Down syndrome to compete in the Miss USA state pageant. I rocked my bathing suit on the stage. Now, it’s time to rock the magazine.” Mikayla Holmgren said.
Holmgren continued, ‘All women need to be celebrated. Just be yourself. Follow your dreams and you can do it.'
Already featured in campaigns by Sephora, Sigma Beauty to Rosedale Mall, not only is Holmgren breaking boundaries she has already managed to achieve another one of her goals by empowering others to achieve their dreams too.
